The UN is becoming increasingly desperate at their failure to convince the “man in the street” about global warming, particularly since the weather is refusing to co-operate over the last few years. They are now seeking to enroll the entertainment industry into their propaganda war and Ban Ki Moon breezed into Hollywood this week to meet writers, directors and producers. The taxpayer of course pays for all these junkets via national contributions to the UN.

U.N. leader asks Hollywood for help in fight against global climate change

By Margot Roosevelt, Los Angeles Times February 27, 2011

“Ban Ki-moon, the normally buttoned-up Secretary General of the United Nations, swept into Los Angeles during Oscar week playing the role of Hollywood pitchman. His message: Make global warming a hot issue.

“I need your support,” he told entertainment industry insiders during a daylong forum Tuesday that focused on recent heat waves, floods, fires and drought, which scientists link to human-induced climate change.

“Animate these stories!” Ban pleaded. “Set them to music! Give them life! Together we can have a blockbuster impact on the world.” (more…)

UN Secretary General, Ban-Ki Moon has launched an astonishing attack on the current economic system of Western-style capitalsim, saying that it was dangerous and outdated in the light of global warming, and calling for a new economic paradigm.

Recent reports have noted that Ban-Ki Moon has said he will take a hands-off approach to global warming, and many have interpreted this to mean that he will leave it to the scientists and national Governments to decide.

But his latest comments, reported in The Guardian, make it clear that instead Ban-Ki Moon is switching from a narrow focus on global warming to a much wider spectrum attack on the current Western style of capitalism generally, on the grounds that it is not environmentally sustainable. Ban Ki Moon promises to fundamentally transform the global economy to solve climate change

Fundamental transformation?  In 2008, candidate Obama promised to “fundamentally transform” America which has resulted in skyrocketing debt and sustained joblessness. We surely do not want that on a global scale!

Yet, that is exactly what U.N. Secretary General Ban Ki Moon called for on Tuesday in Cancun, Mexico, at the U.N. Framework Convention on Climate Change, Conference of the Parties.

We need to fundamentally transform the global economybased on low-carbon, clean energy resources.”

In Cancun they claimed that climate change is “an economic and social crisis, a political crisisa food and energy crisis, and an ecological crisis.”

They called for justice: “climate justiceecological justiceeconomic justicegender justice and historical justice [meaning that they are victims of climate change caused by rich nations].”

They concluded their Marxist diatribe chanting, “Let’s globalise the struggle! Let’s globalise hope!”

Earlier, a global warming scientist said rationing and 20 years of zero economic growth were necessary to stem the affects of climate change.

Laugh Riot: 190-year climate ‘tipping point’ issued — Despite fact that UN began 10-Year ‘Climate Tipping Point’ in 1989!

Climate Depot Factsheet on Inconvenient History of Global Warming ‘Tipping Points’ — Hours, Days, Months, Years, Millennium — Earth ‘Serially Doomed’

Once again, the world is being warned of a climate “tipping point.” The latest bout of stern warnings comes from a survey of 14 climate “experts.”

Get ready, we only have 190 years! Scientists ‘expect climate tipping point’ by 2200 – UK Independent – June 28, 2010 – Excerpt: “13 of the 14 experts said that the probability of reaching a tipping point (by 2200) was greater than 50 per cent, and 10 said that the chances were 75 per cent or more.”

Such silliness. It’s difficult to keep up whether it is hours, days, months or 1000 years. Here are few recent examples of others predicting climate “tipping points” of various durations. (more…)
